Arranged over two floors, our bedrooms can be personalised to make them a real home-from-home, and residents are able to enjoy our open plan lounge and dining room and beautifully landscaped gardens for relaxing, socialising and entertaining.

All our 40 bedrooms are provided ready-furnished with the essentials for instant comfort, and we happily encourage our residents to bring their own treasured furnishings and belongings if they would like to do so.

Amongst our range of well-equipped areas and facilities, there’s always space for quiet contemplation, or for enjoying the company of kindred spirits, and for relishing in interests and pursuits.

We are lucky enough to be situated in a lovely area of the country in the secluded location of the Dorset countryside and we’re proud of our facilities we offer to our residents. We have a committed team and the whole team always work to provide varied and engaging activities and compassionate care centred by respect, dignity and choice.

Founded by a local villager, this charming country house has been providing care for nearly 40 years, with a team of long-standing staff dedicated to offering the best possible care to residents. The home has earned over 30 national and regional awards in recent years, recognizing its commitment to elderly care.

Nestled in secluded, beautifully landscaped gardens with stunning views, The Old Vicarage is an integral part of the local community. It operates as an extended home, where care staff typically work in one area, allowing them to build close relationships with residents and their families, fostering a warm and personalized care environment.

About The Old Vicarage

Daily activities and entertainment are a vital part of the quality care at The Old Vicarage. We offer a diverse and enriching range of activities seven days a week, twice a day, encouraging residents to pursue their favorite hobbies or explore new interests.

One of our activity coordinators is a trained fitness instructor, providing plenty of exercise and movement sessions, along with singing and dancing to keep residents active and engaged. We are also passionate about maintaining strong community connections, working with local groups, schools, and organizations to ensure residents stay involved in local activities and remain a central part of the community.

Activities and Entertainment

Dining is an essential part of the care we provide, supporting residents' health and wellbeing. We believe residents should enjoy eating what they want, when they want, and are encouraged to be actively involved in meal decisions through regular residents' meetings.

We serve fresh, homemade food daily, combining traditional meals with themed nights to encourage residents to try new dishes. Our chef thoroughly assesses each resident's dietary needs, including preferences, dislikes, allergies, special diets, portion sizes, and mealtime preferences. Our catering team takes pride in using local suppliers to create high-quality, homemade dishes that cater to each resident's unique tastes and nutritional needs.
